Job summary

The University of Arizona invites applications for a part-time, extended temporary position to lead the FFN program on San Carlos Apache Lands. You will oversee program design, outreach, and reporting, coordinating with FCHS and First Things First to meet contractual goals.

You’ll provide education to non-traditional caregivers, develop materials, and collaborate with tribal and regional partners while managing data collection and communications. Weekend or travel commitments may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate trainings, workshops, and meetings for FFN and stakeholders, including outreach and staff supervision.
• Create educational materials, activities, and curriculum tailored to the audience.
• Develop and distribute communications and promotional literature, including social media and print.
• Collaborate with local partners on early childhood and health topics; recruit FFN participants.
• Create, manage, and analyze surveys and evaluation data; compile monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

Position Highlights This position will lead the development, implementation and daily management of the Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) program on San Carlos Apache Lands, with the direction of the Gila County Family, Consumer & Health Sciences (FCHS) Agent. Responsibilities will include coordinating program operations, partnerships, outreach, and educational activities while ensuring all program goals, contractual deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements are achieved in alignment with the priorities of the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board (First Things First; FTF). This position provides education to non-traditional caregivers of young children. This program will include programming that teaches early brain development, social and emotional well-being, the importance of attachment, physical safety, health, nutrition, and beyond. This position will be working on San Carlos Apache Lands within the San Carlos Apache FTF Region along with other FCHS team members; and works in coordination with First Things First, the Arizona Board of Regents, the University of Arizona on behalf of the Gila County Cooperative Extension, as well as other possible funding sources. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance and technical assistance to FFN providers on a wide range of topics delivered in the community. This position will be provided training and appropriate resources and will work in a lead role as part of a team to develop educational materials which are appropriate for the audience.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinates, prepares, and/or facilitates local trainings, workshops, meetings, or conferences for early care individuals, FFN, and stakeholders. This includes coordinating all the pieces of program delivery: including but not limited to, conducting outreach efforts, supervising part-time support staff, buying all items needed for delivery, managing childcare providers, etc.
• Creates educational materials, activities, and series curriculum, improves lessons and activities to better meet the intended audience.
• Develops, compiles, and distributes communications and promotional literature. This includes creating outreach material and social media/newspaper postings.
• Collaborates with local community partners on local early childhood and health/safety concerns by attending meetings and events in the community, provides community presentations on the importance of FFN education and serves as a community resource to other local stakeholders serving young children as well as early care and education programs. Uses these collaborations as modes to recruit FFN participants.
• Creates, distributes, and manages surveys and evaluation data. This includes ongoing storage and data entry as well as compiling and creating monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a multifaceted population, especially our tribal nations.
• Skills in creating and delivering educational materials.
• Knowledge of adult education practices (informal).
• Knowledge of early child development, health topics and the importance of early care.
• Knowledge of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, as well as surrounding areas.

• Experience providing expert guidance and technical assistance to family, friend, and neighbor care providers on a wide range of early childhood, health, and safety topics.
• Proven experience in collecting, synthesize, and disseminate research-based information to appropriate audience, in this case, non-traditional childcare providers.
• Experience creating and teaching early brain development.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting systems.
• Bilingual in English and Apache.
