Scope of Job: To assist in the operation of the University Marketing andCommunications (UMC) digital community program and relatedprojects, exercising independent judgment and authority asrequired. Responsible for coordinating student communications,campus outreach, digital resource accuracy, accessibilitycompliance, and advertising quality support. Responsible for allphases of the program, including content recommendations, programselection, staff coordination, recommendations for future planning,and innovation.

Description of Duties:
  • Coordinates the UMC digital community program to ensure thatimplementation and prescribed activities are carried out inaccordance with specified objectives.
  • Supervises and manages the day-to-day activities and personnelof the digital community program.
  • Develops and supervises the implementation of digital communityprojects.
  • Participates in budget planning and is responsible forcontrolling expenditures in accordance with budget allocations forthe digital community program.
  • Assists others in writing and developing proposals for fundinggrants.
  • Coordinates the various activities of the program, includingcommunity outreach, resource referral, and advertising reviewactivities.
  • Coordinates long and short-term programs, including performingfeasibility studies and estimating the cost of digital communityand student engagement initiatives.
  • Represents department in official functions.
  • Reviews program records and reports of activities andrecommends modifications to methods or procedures as required.
  • Drafts brochures, letters, agendas, contracts, and otherprogram related communications.
  • May plan, develop, organize, and coordinate research and surveydesigns related to digital community activities.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars related to theprogram's mission and goals.
  • Supervises and organizes seminars, conferences, presentations,outreach activities, and other program-related events.
  • Provides appropriate reports as required for the digitalcommunity program and related projects.
  • Provides ongoing staff development, on-site demonstrations andfield-based experiences related to digital communitycommunications, information verification, and referralprocedures.
  • Conducts formal training or gives instruction regarding programpolicies and procedures.
  • Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships withinternal/external departments/agencies and other organizationsassociated with and/or receiving benefit from the program.
  • May coordinate and oversee tutorial, counseling, teaching,and/or training activities of the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General direction from the assigned supervisor.

Supervises assigned staff.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

Licenses/Certifications:

None.

Required Experience:
  • Three (3) years of experience performing closely relatedduties, including program planning/coordination or relatedexperience in the appropriate field of the program, or
  • One (1) year of the required experience with a Master's degree,or
  • Five (5) years of the required experience with an AssociateDegree or 60 hours of College Credit, or
  • Seven (7) years of the required experience with a High SchoolDiploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience:

Experience coordinating digital community activities,communications, and departmental outreach. Experience reviewingdigital resources and promotional materials for accuracy;supporting advertising quality reviews; and tracking requests,approvals, deadlines, and corrections. Familiarity with universityservices, digital accessibility, social media platforms, anddigital collaboration tools.

Working Conditions:

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Normal office or classroom or outside environment. Some travel andweekend work is required. Particular project or program may requireability to drive a car for local or distant travel forconsultation, training, meetings, or on site demonstrations. Mustbe able to bend, stoop, reach and lift for retrieving/maintainingfiles and for setting up multimedia equipment. Must be able to movebetween buildings, offices and classrooms. UTRGV is a distributedinstitution, which may require presence at multiple locationsthroughout the Rio Grande Valley.As part of their essential duties,employees in these roles are expected to maintain a consistent,in-person presence on campus at their assigned locations. Limitedexceptions may apply for positions that are approved as hybrid orfully remote in accordance with UTRGV policies.
