The State of Alaska Department of Public Safety (DPS) Aviation Section is seeking a detail-oriented records technician to maintain aircraft records in alignment with FAA regulations and internal retention policies. You will analyze electronic logbooks for 49 DPS aircraft, input data into specialized software, and oversee storage of critical paperwork.
Based in Anchorage, the role requires strong clerical skills, data management, and the ability to work with frequent interruptions.

Under general direction and supervision from the DPS Aviation Program Coordinator 2, maintains all aircraft records in accordance with FAA regulations and State retention policies. Researches and analyzes electronic logbooks for 49 aircraft operated by DPS, enters and analyzes aircraft information in sophisticated online aircraft maintenance software, maintains on-line databases for aircraft records, updates physical logbooks, and oversees aircraft paperwork storage methods.

This position is located and based out of our Anchorage-based Aircraft Section at Lake Hood.
The work environment is friendly, team-oriented, and productive. You will share an office environment that includes other professionals. The successful applicant must be able to work with frequent interruptions, be self-motivated, and be able to work well with others to be successful in this position.
The work schedule is 5 days on and 2 days off. This position does not offer housing, nor does it offer someone living outside of Anchorage paid travel to and from the worksite.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and/or procedures for a program, project, business, or organization.
This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety to qualify for this position.
