Commonpoint Queens (Samuel Field YM and YWHA) is seeking a Case Manager, Learn & Earn Site Director to oversee internship programs from Queens High School of Teaching. You will recruit sites, monitor participant progress, and coordinate job placements in medical and allied health fields, while building strong employer partnerships.

You will coach both youth and adults, support education goals, and collaborate with agency staff to meet monthly targets and funder requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred.
  • At least two years’ experience with adolescents in urban settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with MS Office suite; proficient with Google apps (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Experience with DYCD-Workforce contract and databases (PTS, YEPS, Salesforce) preferred.

STATEMENT OF THE AGENCY

Commonpoint (formerly the Samuel Field Y and the Central Queens Y) is a non-profit, multi service agency with flagship sites in Little Neck, Bayside, Forest Hills and 33 additional sites throughout the community that provides a diverse array of programs and services to over 35,000 mission is to sustain and enhance the quality of family and individual life for all members of our community, regardless of religion, ethnic or cultural background, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual preference, age, or disability, within a pervasive and inclusive environment that facilitates individual growth, meets individual needs and builds community. We accomplish this mission through a broad range of social, educational, and recreational services that reach community members of all ages and backgrounds.

STATEMENT OF THE POSITION

Within our framework of a holistic, strength-focused, and family-supported practice, an individual hired as the Case Manager, Learn & Earn Site Director will report directly to the Site Director, Learn & Earn Program. Office will be based out of the Queens High School of Teaching.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Recruit and onboard internship sites based on participants’ interest.
  2. Monitor participants’ timesheet completion and conduct internship site visits at frequency required by funder.
  3. Successfully place participants in internships with a high focus on medical and allied health fields, and comply with monthly retention targets.
  4. Complete trackers and reports, build client and employer databases, and ensure weekly data entry on funder’s portals are completed by assigned deadlines.
  5. Develop strong working relationships with participants in order to help them secure and maintain viable employment.
  6. Provide coaching and direct support to youth and adults with limited work history and educational attainment.
  7. Advocate for clients by collaborating with agency staff and building relationships with local businesses and community based organizations to develop job leads for participants.
  8. Work closely with Opportunity Youth to coordinate social services referrals and generate ideas to help clients achieve their education and employment goals.
  9. Participate in training and staff meetings, as required.
  10. Recruit and onboard internship sites based on participants’ interest.
  11. Serve as a relationship manager with responsibility for research, recruitment, cultivation, and retention of employment opportunities.
  12. Initiate and maintain ongoing personal contact with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement.
  13. Collect data from employers related to job orders, including job requirements and skills; match job skills with applicant qualifications; refer qualified applicants to employers, and conduct necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions.
  14. Make introductions and recommendations for beneficial alliances and partnership opportunities for the agency and among our partners.
  15. Build strong relationships and directly collaborate with program staff to leverage external affiliations and accomplish shared goals.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field preferred.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working with adolescents in an urban environment providing services that reduce barriers and facilitate educational success and social emotional wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a goal-driven environment to achieve monthly targets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills required, ability to effectively conduct workshops to groups preferred.
  • Experienced working with MS Office, Excel, Word and PP, knowledgeable in Google applications (Sheets, Docs, and Slides). Proficient in computer navigation as well as PDF.
  • Experienced working with DYCD-Workforce contract and databases PTS, YEPS, Salesforce preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in a school setting.
  • Good supervisory skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to engage in productive supervision.
General Tasks of All Commonpoint Staff
  • Promote and implement the core values of the agency.
  • Participation in all staff meetings and staff training seminars.
  • Participation in agency-wide programs and program committees, as assigned.
  • Active involvement, as a supervisee, in the supervision process.
  • Support the mission of Commonpoint.
  • Other tasks appropriate to Commonpoint staff, as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Primary office-based environment
  • Sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
