Job summary

SCGA Junior Golf Foundation is seeking a Program Coordinator to support PYD golf and youth development programs across communities in the San Fernando Valley. This full-time, non-exempt role focuses on curriculum development, coach growth, and program operations.

You will collaborate with youth coaches, manage registrations, data, and outreach partnerships, and contribute to safe, engaging programming for juniors with a passion for golf and youth development. Starting pay is $24/hour.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
  • Golf knowledge and ability to lead intermediate programming.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in sports, events, operations, or related field.
  • Customer service approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with other departments.
  • Able to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs. outdoors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement program and safety policies in San Fernando Valley locations.
  • Lead beginner to advanced programming and ensure safety and policy compliance.
  • Recruit, schedule, and conduct one-on-one lessons with youth.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to support program goals.
  • Organize and manage registrations, attendance, and data collection.
  • Support curriculum development and coach training.

Founded in 1983, SCGA Junior Golf Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Southern California Golf Association. SCGA Junior Golf Foundation’s programs emphasize both player and youth development by providing a fun, safe, and engaging community for players, parents, and coaches.

Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt opportunity assisting with the operation, growth, and exposure of the player & youth development programs (herein PYD) focused in the community. The Program Coordinator and PYD team implement positive youth development, and golf and athlete development programming, for juniors within the community. The Program Coordinator assists with curriculum development, as well as overall growth and development of youth coaches. The incumbent will be assigned to work at various field locations within the defined geographical boundary and community. This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, with a starting hourly rate of $24.00.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the oversight and implementation of all program and safety policies in San Fernando Valley, including program facilitation at Woodley Lakes, Hansem Dam, and Van Nuys golf courses
  • Implements positive youth development and team culture building best practices in all aspects of programming and beyond
  • Serves as a lead golf instructor at beginner, intermediate and advanced level programming and other events as necessary while promoting best practices regarding safety and SCGA Junior Golf Foundation policies
  • Organizes and develops programming/activities/events in accordance with the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation’s mission and PYD program goals and objectives to include those focused on community building.
  • Implements and manages program modifications to ensure program goals are achieved.
  • Provides supervision, feedback and training on a regular basis to coaches.
  • Recruits, schedules and conducts one-on-one lessons.
  • Administers equipment fittings.
  • Develops and maintains community, facility, stakeholder partnerships and relationships for the benefit of the program.
  • Assists in identifying and determining outreach organization partners to develop relationship and to better serve organization goals.
  • Participates in professional development which may include positive youth development trainings, Titleist Performance Institute, U.S. Kids Golf seminars and professional golf certifications.
  • Ensures goals and objectives are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality and team member performance.
  • Assists in the planning of short and long-term strategies and objectives.
  • Collects, records and produces accurate and timely reports of program data.
  • Manages attendance, rosters, equipment inventories and data capture related to all programming.
  • Creates, maintains and manages all registration pages.
  • Other tasks and duties as relevant and assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field of study and/or combination of acceptable education and relative work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the game of golf; capable of independently leading intermediate to more advanced programming initiatives.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in sports or events, operations, administrative, and/or other work environment with similar responsibilities.
  • Customer service approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; outgoing and comfortable in administering small group presentations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to work independently while also effectively interacting and collaborating with other departments and team members to achieve various organizational goals.
  • Able to troubleshoot, pivot and adapt to changing situations and environments
  • Conveys a positive demeanor that is professional and approachable at all times.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, to include bending/stooping; able to lift and move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs. with minimal assistance.
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in various elements of weather.
  • Flexible schedule; must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Access to reliable transportation and able to travel with timely arrival to assigned working locations as required.
