Job summary

Lutheran Community Services NW seeks a program assistant in Klamath Falls, OR to support youth ages 9-18 facing nicotine/substance use challenges. You will help plan and facilitate nicotine prevention events with partners, while promoting healthy lifestyles and connecting families to community resources.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of related experience, a high school diploma, English fluency, and the ability to work in varied settings including schools and community events, with some travel

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.
  • Ability to work in varied settings and travel between worksites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach, education, and community engagement by attending or coordinating events.
  • Build relationships in the community through outreach and meetings.
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth and promote healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Connect clients with resources and support services; assist in grant reporting.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

All LCSNW team members will contribute to our mission of partnering with individuals, families , and communities for health, justice , and hope. Provide support to youth ages 9-18 who struggle with nicotine /substance use that is negatively affecting their schooling, home , or social life . A significant part of this position will include creating and facilitating nicotine prevention events with promotional distributors , community partners , and advocating for nicotine prevention throughout the community .

  • Conduct outreach, education , and community engagement activities by attendin g and/or coordinating events.
  • Build relationships in the community through outreach, education, attending meetings, and engagement activities
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth, helping them identify their goals, build healthy h abits, understand personal boundaries, and navigate supportive relationships
  • Connect clients with resources and support services, helping ensure their needs are met
  • Demonstrates credibility and professionalism in promoting nicotine‑free and healthy lifestyle choices
  • Collect, organize, and maintain program and grant‑related data, and provide basic reporting support to assist in tracking, measuring, and communicating overall grant outcomes

HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:

  • Intermediate mastery of business applications and productivity suites

  • Thrives in a complex environment; works with cross‑functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end‑user experiences throughout the service lifecycle
  • Successfully completes tasks in a moderately noisy environment

  • Interacts with others and performs tasks in‑person and through the use of technology, with moderate periods of stationary activity and moderate periods of increased physical activity including and not limited to lifting, bending, setting up tables and shade tent for events.
  • Moves equipment/materials weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Travels between worksites regularly , responsible for transporting clients in personal and/or agency vehicle, which requires valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and motor vehicle records clearance

Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community‑based settings, client home/community settings, outdoor settings in varying weather conditions, and faith‑based settings such as churches

  • Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job‑relevant clearances as required by the State or program
