Job summary
Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, seeks a Program Chief Engineer (PCE) for the W87-1 modernization program to lead technical direction, system integration, and qualification strategies. You will partner with NSE and LLNL, guiding design decisions and risk-informed tradeoffs.
This senior role requires 10+ years in ND programs and active clearance, with onsite work and travel about 25%. The selected candidate will oversee enterprise-level technical leadership, coordinate with DoD,
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in a relevant STEM discipline
- 10+ years of ND experience
- Direct technical experience in modernization programs for nuclear weapons systems
- Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent capable of obtaining additional clearances
- Submit 3–5 professional references
- Strong leadership and briefing skills with senior customers/DoD
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-disciplinary teams to ensure technical excellence across the NSE
- Define and evaluate technical approaches within program constraints
- Manage system integration, design optimization, and qualification strategies
- Communicate risks and technical options to Sandia executive leadership
- Oversee interface documentation and reviews with partner organizations
- Mentor next-generation technical leaders in system integration
