Job description

REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Associate assists in (1) the design, organization, planning, development and implementation of programs, policies and projects, (2) the administration of the day-to-day activities of the Association and (3) the administration of the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program requirements of the Association, in each case under the supervision of the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director of the Association.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS

The Program Associate will assist in the design, organization, planning, development and implementation of programs and projects of the Association. These programs will range from Continuing Legal Education programs, panels, workshops, networking events and fundraising events. The Program Associate would support, assist and otherwise work in conjunction with the various Committees of the Association, the Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director, the other Officers and members of the Board.

MEMBERSHIP

The Program Associate will assist in managing the Association’s membership database and communicating with members through periodic updates, newsletters and other reports.

FUNDRAISING AND SPONSORSHIPS

The Program Associate will assist in the Association’s fundraising efforts, including the design, development and implementation of the Association’s Annual Dinner and other signature events. The Program Associate will assist in managing the Association’s sponsorship database and work in conjunction with the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Officers and Board to maintain existing relationships and help develop new sponsorship relationships.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The Program Associate will participate and assist in the design, organization and planning of events targeted towards the Asian American community. This would involve working with other Asian American organizations in the New York region.

ADMINISTRATION

The Program Associate will assist in the administration of the day-to-day activities of the Association, including (1) website maintenance, (2) the processing and updating of membership applications, and (3) responding to third party, member and sponsor inquiries. The Program Associate may also assist in the preparation of Board meetings, including the preparation of Board materials. The Program Associate will also support the administration of the Association’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs, including ensuring the status of the Association’s accreditation, preparing coursebooks and materials for each program, preparing required CLE paperwork for each program, and attending events as necessary to ensure administration of the CLE goes smoothly.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION

Two-year associates degree or four-year university degree at a minimum, advanced degree (including J.D.) optional.

SKILLS

Strong analytical, organizational, research, writing and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups both internally and externally. Ability to think proactively and creatively. Strong computer skills (e.g., working with Microsoft Office, Gmail and similar software) desired. Facility with social media (e.g., blogs, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) desired. Experience with maintaining websites a plus (e.g., working with HTML, CMS environments).
