Job summary

NYC Bar Association in New York, NY seeks a Business Development & Sponsorships Coordinator to support sponsorships for CLE programs and events. This hybrid role reports to the Associate Director and collaborates with the Business Development Team to grow sponsorship revenue and visibility.

The position requires an associate degree or higher in business/marketing and 1–2 years in sales/marketing in professional services, preferably with legal industry familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in business, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 1 year minimum (2 years preferred) of experience in sales or marketing in a professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with the legal industry a plus.
  • Must have a proactive approach with great drive, initiative, and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills are essential.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, collaborative style, and solid judgment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work early morning or evening hours, as needed, to attend City Bar events outside of general work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with sponsors with regards to fulfillment of sponsorship contracts for CLE events.
  • Create sponsorship invoices and track payments.
  • Coordinate sponsorship deliverables including correspondence with exhibitors, collecting, and coordinating exhibitor deliverables, reviewing and finalizing event-related materials (i.e., sponsor posters, ads, logos, swag, etc.), and other tasks as needed.
  • Assist in developing sponsorship/exhibitor prospectuses and brochures, including audience demographics, pricing, and specifications.
  • Research sources, generate new leads, and update current sponsor outreach lists.
  • Gather and report on key data around existing and prospective sponsorships.
  • Maintain accurate records for Firm CLE Packages and assist with account management in our database (i.e., CRM, Excel, etc.)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for law firm customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Produce CLE usage reports and distribute them to law firm customers.
  • Assist with preparation and attend sponsorship-related events, and other events as needed (approximately 30 events per year)
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION: Business Development & Sponsorships Coordinator

LOCATION: Hybrid (Midtown, NY)

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

The New York City Bar Association (City Bar), founded in 1870, is a voluntary association of lawyers and law students. The City Bar’s mission is to equip and mobilize a diverse legal profession to practice with excellence, promote reform of the law, and uphold the rule of law and access to justice in support of a fair society and the public interest in our community, our nation, and throughout the world.

The Programs Department produces more than 130 CLE (Continued Legal Education) programs and events annually, including the Annual Conferences, the Small Law Firm Symposium, the Professional Development Workshop Series, and the New Lawyer Institute. The Business Development Team is charged with identifying, prospecting, developing and growing business relationships with law firms, corporations, government entities, and law schools — with the primary focus on securing sponsors and continuously increasing revenue and visibility for City Bar’s programs and conferences.

The Business Development & Sponsorships Coordinator will work in liaison with two key members of the Business Development Team and assist with tasks as assigned — primary focus will be on relationship building with sponsoring firms for the City Bar’s CLE programs and events, and Firm CLE Packages.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. We are not able to sponsor visas for this position.

This position will have a hybrid work schedule with some flexibility for the days scheduled to be in the office (generally 2 - 3 days each week).

The annualized salary for this position ranges from $46,000 to $50,000, based on a standard 35-hour work week. Additional compensation is provided for hours worked beyond 35 each week, including overtime pay at the applicable rate for hours exceeding 40 per week.
