Job summary

JCC Association is seeking a Program Associate to support JWB Jewish Chaplains Council initiatives and the military community. The role collaborates with JWB staff, Military Lay Leaders, and JCC professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate programs that strengthen Jewish life in the military community and expand JWB's reach.

The position focuses on program management, communications, partnership development, and organizational operations, with hybrid NYC office work and occasional travel.

Qualifications

JWB Jewish Chaplains Council(r) (JWB) honors Jewish service members in the United States armed forces, safeguards their rights, fulfills their spiritual needs, and combats loneliness and isolation. JWB fosters and promotes meaningful Jewish life for Jewish personnel active in the U.S. military, their families, and tens of thousands of Jewish veterans. JWB endorses Jewish chaplains to the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs, augmenting their resources and advocating on matters of policy. The Jewish Chaplains Council provides full support services to Jewish chaplains and administers ecclesiastical approval for chaplain candidates and Jewish lay leaders in the military and is the only organization that endorses chaplains from all streams of Judaism. The Program Associate reports to the JWB Director of Operations and plays an integral role in advancing JWB's strategic priorities through the implementation, growth, and promotion of the organization's signature initiatives. Working collaboratively with JWB staff, Jewish chaplains, Military Lay Leaders, JCC Association staff and JCC professionals, the Program Associate supports the development, execution, and evaluation of programs that strengthen Jewish life within the military community and expand JWB's reach throughout the JCC Movement.

Responsibilities:
Programs Management
  • Supports the planning, implementation, and continuous advancement of JWB's signature initiatives, including Operation Summer Camp, JWB Passport, Gesher, JREP, Military Lay Leader support, and other signature programs.
  • Coordinates program timelines, deliverables, participant communications, data collection, and reporting to ensure successful program execution.
  • Monitors program outcomes and assist in evaluating effectiveness through participant feedback and data analysis.
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen existing programs and support the development of new initiatives that advance JWB's mission.
Military 'Lay Leader' Support and Engagement
  • Supports the recruitment, onboarding, certification, training, and ongoing engagement & support of JWB Lay Leaders (Jewish military personnel who volunteer to assist Jewish service members with their Jewish life needs).
  • Fosters meaningful relationships with Military Lay Leaders, serving as a resource and helping ensure they have the tools and support needed to successfully serve Jewish military communities.
  • Assists in developing educationalresources, communications, and engagement opportunities that strengthenthe Lay Leader network.
Communications and Storytelling
  • Assists in developing and implementingcommunication strategies that highlight the impact of JWB's programs andservices.
  • Creates content for newsletters, socialmedia, the JWB website, presentations, and other communications thateffectively tell JWB's story to donors, partners, military families, JCCs,and other stakeholders.
  • Collects and organizes stories,testimonials, photographs, and program outcomes that demonstrate programimpact.
  • Collaborates with JCC Association'sMarketing and Communications team on shared initiatives and organizationalpriorities.
PartnershipDevelopment and Outreach
  • Supports efforts to strengthenrelationships with JCCs, military installations, chaplains, Lay Leaders,community organizations, and other partners.
  • Assists with expanding awareness andparticipation in JWB programs throughout the JCC Movement.
  • Represents JWB professionally inmeetings, conferences, trainings, and other events as appropriate.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range $65,000 to $70,000, annual
  • Medical and dental insurance.
  • Eight paid legal holidays and up to 13 paid Jewish holidays. In addition, the office closes early on the eve of three Jewish holidays.

Additional Information

JCC Association staff currently work in a hybrid environment, working 3 days a week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from our NYC office, Mondays and Fridays remotely.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in nonprofit program management, Jewish communal service, project management, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience developing communications and marketing content across multiple platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using databases and CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with the North American Jewish community and an appreciation for JWB's mission. Experience working with military communities is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently whilecollaborating effectively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, asneeded.
