Job summary

St. Joseph’s Center in Wilkes-Barre is seeking full-time Program Assistants for our Adult Day Program. You will support daily program plans and activities, help with personal care, and promote a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for participants.

This role emphasizes teamwork with program specialists, data recording, and participation in meetings. A PA Certified Medication Administration course is required for medication administration.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred, but not required.
• Valid PA Driver’s License preferred.
• Ability to lift/move items over 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as squatting, bending, and kneeling.
• Willingness to complete Certified Medication Administration training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe and age-appropriate environment for program participants.
• Assist with personal care needs including feeding, changing, and positioning.
• Support program specialists and other staff in implementing daily activities.
• Maintain accurate data collection and documentation.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and community-based activities.
• Administer medications upon completion of the PA Certified Medication Administration Course.
• Maintain program materials and notify leadership of supply needs.
• Uphold policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards.
• Foster respectful, dignified, and inclusive interactions with participants.
• Keep program areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Attend staff meetings and complete required training (minimum 24 hours annually).
