Job summary

The Gathering Place Adult Day Center (Brattleboro Area Adult Day Services) in Brattleboro, VT is hiring a Program Assistant for a full-time, 37.5-hour week. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM.

You will provide personal care, assist with meals, monitor vital signs, and support participants in activities and exercise to promote well-being. Join a team that values reliability, teamwork, and compassionate care for adults with a wide range of abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in activity coordination, personal care, or working with elderly/adults with disabilities preferred.
• Ability to engage and motivate participants in activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. (May be used in daily care)

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance (toileting, showering, daily living activities).
• Distribute medications and observe glucometer use.
• Take and document vital signs.
• Assist with meal and snack service and plating.
• Help participants with activities and exercise.
• Collaborate with coworkers on shared tasks (laundry, cleanup).

Program Assistant - Full-time 37.5 hrs/wk

Expected Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM - 4PM

The Gathering Place (Brattleboro Area Adult Day Services), is an Adult Day program serving Windham County Vermont. We serve adults with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities. Our participants enjoy music, arts, games, exercise and companionship - just to name a few!

The Program Assistant is responsible for:

• Personal care assistance - toileting, showering, and other activities of daily living
• Medication distribution. Observe glucometer use
• Take and document vital signs
• Assists with meal and snack service (plating, serving, etc.)
• Helps participants with activities
• Helps participants with exercise
• Participate with co-workers with shared tasks: laundry, clean up, putting supplies away, etc
• Must work well as part of a team and be reliable

Schedule: Monday-Friday days. 37.5 hours. No weekends or evenings; we are closed major holidays.

Expected pay range: $18-$20+ per hour

Eligible for paid time off benefits, dental, vision, life, LTD and AD&D coverage at no cost (employee only). We are unable to offer health insurance. 403(b) match after one year.

Requirements

References required and verification of past employment history.

• Experience in activity coordination, personal care assistance, or working with elderly/adults with disabilities preferred
• Ability to engage and motivate participants in various activities
• Understanding of physical and cognitive needs of older adults
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Compassionate and patient demeanor
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Ability to lift up to thirty pounds
