About Fort Logan

The Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHIFL) is one of two state hospitals serving our community. The vision of CMHIFL is to provide the highest quality mental health services to persons with complex, serious, and persistent mental illness within the resources available. Our mission is to support those individuals in achieving their recovery goals and reaching their full potential. CMHIFL provides inpatient treatment to adult patients, generally between 18-59. The hospital currently has 138 adult inpatient beds, over six treatment milieus serving civil and forensic individuals. Medical services, occupational therapy, neuropsychological-rehabilitation services, and trauma-informed care services are available for all patients throughout the hospital.

This position performs advanced and complex office management duties of a technical, interpretive and administrative nature, as well as high-level clerical assignments for the Nursing Service Administrators I & II (Assistant Directors of Nursing and Director of Nursing), the Staffing Coordinator/Manager of CMS, and the Off-Hours Nursing Supervisors. The position requires a variety of interpersonal, computer, and mathematical skills; a high degree of tact, discretion, and initiative. This role demands independent judgment and critical decision-making.

Job Duties
  1. Prioritize tasks to ensure the workload, operational requirements, deadlines, and expectations for the nursing department hospital-wide unit schedules are met.
  2. Coordinate information from various locations/patient units; lead staffing office activities confidentially and efficiently; develop strategies for effective processes.
  3. Ensure each unit schedule is complete with the correct clinical skill mix and staffing numbers according to established templates.
  4. Analyze staffing pattern problems and coordinate coverage for the Staffing Office.
  5. Participate in collecting, synthesizing, and interpreting data for decision-making by the Staffing Office Coordinator or Chief Nursing Officer.
  6. Understand what data to collect, how to collect, systematize, analyze, and interpret it for presentation.
  7. Seek opportunities to improve operational and scheduling processes proactively.
  8. Serve as the primary contact in the Staffing Office for scheduling issues.
  9. Maintain knowledge of Staffing Office operations and nursing unit needs to understand the impact on patient care.
  10. Establish cooperative relationships with nurse managers/staff and other stakeholders; address conflicts proactively.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

OR

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience totaling four (4) years.

Conditions of Employment

  • Disclose previous disciplinary terminations or resignations in lieu of termination; provide explanations.
  • Comply with CDHS vaccination requirements.
