South Dakota 811 works with excavators and utilities across the state to promote safe excavation practices, knowledge and compliance of South Dakota 811 laws. This position is required to understand the one call process and associated technologies, plan meetings for excavators and utilities companies and represent the Board at industry meetings and events. This position will provide administrative support to the Board of Directors, 811's Executive Director and contractors.
Overview: This position will offer direct support to the Director and the Board by scheduling meetings, providing office support, attending Damage Prevention Meetings, responding to excavators, and utilities regarding One Call laws and regulations.
Job Description
- Prepare and edit correspondence, presentations, and other documents.
- Plan general member meetings.
- Plan and attend conferences and Board events, to include tech set up.
- Record, transcribe, and post meeting minutes as required.
- Work with the One Call Center to advertise and notice the meetings.
- Office support to Executive Director and Board.
- Schedule meetings, meeting spaces, overnight accommodations, and hybrid meeting setup.
- Work with sponsors regarding Damage Prevention Meetings.
- Work with all South Dakota 811 contractors (One Call Center, product providers, and state entities).
- Respond to questions and calls from anyone excavating in the state, utilities, and safety agencies.
- Attend industry focused conferences and meetings.
- Public speaking and presenting to large groups is required.
- Attend in place of and act on behalf of Executive Director when not available.
- Receive, document, and post alleged law violation complaints received.
- Day to day agency business.
- Overnight travel, in and out of state is required (scheduled dates for 2025 are listed on the Travels List).
- Other duties as assigned.
