Job summary

Good Samaritan Family Resource Center in San Francisco is seeking a part-time Program Assistant to support the dinner program, provide front desk coverage, and assist with child watch services as needed.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative setting while working evenings and weekends. A high school diploma and at least six months of relevant experience are preferred; bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least six (6) months of relevant work experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other staff.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and collaborate as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan menus, purchase food and supplies, and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for program participants.
  • Coordinate food needs with program facilitators to support programming including workshops and events.
  • Responsible for collecting food, supplies, and donations from vendors.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, food preparation, and dining areas in accordance with safe food handling practices.
  • Perform kitchen cleanup, including dishwashing and maintaining equipment after programs.
  • Assist with room setup and breakdown for workshops, programs, and special events.
  • Provide front desk coverage and child watch assistance as needed.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of program activities and events.

Pay Rate: $23.50 - $25 (DOE)

Hours Per Week: Up to 20 hours/Part-Time (Evenings required and Weekends as needed)

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Service Coordination Manager, the Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the organization's programs with food planning and preparation for our dinner program, providing front desk coverage and Child Watch services as needed, and supporting program activities. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while working independently and collaboratively to create a welcoming and supportive experience for participants.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Plan menus, purchase food and supplies, and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for program participants.
  • Coordinate food needs with program facilitators to support programming including workshops and events.
  • Responsible for collecting food, supplies, and donations from vendors.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least six (6) months of relevant work experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other staff
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and collaborate as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Family Resource Center
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Requirements
  • Candidates must go through a background check after a conditional offer is made.
  • Must have TB clearance
  • Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain certification.

  • This position is set in an Office and Community-based environment. The physical and environmental demands described in the job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements for extended periods.
  • Ability to push carts and transport food and supplies.
