Job summary

Peter Paul’s After-School Academy in Richmond, VA is seeking a part-time Program Assistant to support K–5 students with daily instruction and enrichment activities, 2:00 pm–6:30 pm, up to 20 hours weekly. You will help implement lesson plans, encourage critical thinking, and assist in classroom management and behavior systems, while attending weekly staff meetings and events.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent (college courses preferred), experience with school-age

• Strong classroom management and organization skills.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of current educational research.
• Understanding of and familiarity working in an urban setting.
• COVID-19 Vaccine is required.

The After-School Academy program is comprised of students grades K-5 who receive daily instruction in core subject areas and provides enrichment activities. The Program Assistant provides support to the classroom teacher in implementation of the daily lesson plans and group activities. The person in the role must embody Peter Paul’s values and share a passion for the mission by overseeing a high quality, safe experience for all students. • COVID-19 Vaccine is required (medical or religious exemptions may be accepted but require weekly COVID-19 testing)

Additional Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s Degree (preferred)
• Experience working in the Virginia Standards of Learning
• Experience driving a passenger van/bus; CDL a plus

Compensation And Benefits

This is a part-time, hourly position that is expected to work Monday-Friday during program hours ranging from 2:00 pm -6:30 pm (up to 20 hours per week) and will receive additional hours for team meetings and educational training.
