Job summary

College of Charleston is seeking a Program and Communications Manager within the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics to lead programming and communications strategy. You will liaise with Enrollment Management, Alumni Affairs, Faculty, and Corporate Partners to drive data-informed marketing and student engagement.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in program management or strategic communications; a Master’s in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field and minimum 5 years of experience in program management or strategic communications are required.
  • Master’s degree and experience in a higher education setting, specifically within STEM or recruitment-focused departments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee marketing materials for diverse audiences including students, parents, schools, and corporations.
  • Create engaging content across digital, website, social media, and print platforms.
  • Manage and oversee external contractors for specialized marketing needs.
  • Ensure all promotional efforts align with the university’s brand guidelines and mission.
  • Design and manage high-impact initiatives including Industry, Student Ambassador, and Alumni Mentoring programming.

Department School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics Admin

Job Purpose

The School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics’ Program and Communications Manager is a high-impact leadership role responsible and accountable for the strategic direction and execution of internal and external programming and communications. Serving as a vital liaison between the School and key stakeholders including Enrollment Management, Alumni Affairs, Faculty, and External Corporate Partners and Contractors. This position supports enrollment and retention efforts through data-driven marketing, builds robust relationships, and fosters a vibrant community for students and alumni.

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field and minimum 5 years of experience in program management or strategic communications are required. Master’s degree and experience in a higher education setting, specifically within STEM or recruitment-focused departments is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain external partnerships with corporate and community stakeholders.
  • Strong technical proficiency in data analysis and reporting to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing tools and content management systems ( CMS ).
Preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of digital marketing tools and content management systems ( CMS ).
  • Established professional network within the Charleston/Lowcountry K-12 or corporate landscape.
  • Background in creating and scaling mentorship or immersion programs for students and alumni.
