Under the direction of the Regional Engineer (PE4) or their designee, the Program Aide will serve as the Western Region’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Administrator and carry out administrative and technical duties in support of the Canal Corporation’s Emergency Action Plans, Critical Incident Management and Dam Safety Program. In addition, incumbent will support the Corporation’s EH&S training program by coordinating and scheduling training courses, maintaining attendance records as well as supporting the Syracuse Headquarters Administrative Specialist and Administrative Officer.
Must be reachable on the New York State Civil Service eligible list for Program Aide
One year of permanent or contingent permanent in an eligible title for transfer determined to be similar by Civil Service.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded the same rights of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
*NY HELPS candidates may only be considered if the Program Aide list canvass results in fewer than 3 acceptors for this position.
