Job summary

GTS Transportation is seeking a Load Planning Manager to optimize the profitability and utilization of our asset-based fleet in the Chicagoland area. The role focuses on strategic load planning, forecasting, and operational alignment that goes beyond traditional dispatch.

You will plan for the next moves, balance lanes, and minimize empty miles while coordinating with Dispatch, Sales, and Brokerage to maximize revenue and minimize risk. Strong Excel and TMS experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of transportation experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to translate data into actionable decisions.
• Advanced Excel and TMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily and 24–72-hour load plans for the fleet.
• Ensure each truck has a planned next move before finishing current load.
• Establish and maintain fleet preplanning standards and KPIs.
• Maximize revenue, contribution profit per tractor, and utilization.
• Identify continuous moves, reloads, and density opportunities.
• Balance the fleet network and optimize repositioning strategies.
• Monitor market trends and adjust plans to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with Dispatch, Sales, and Brokerage to optimize assets.
