Job summary

William Paterson University invites qualified educators to join its Professional Development Schools program as Professors in Residence on a part-time basis, supporting teacher candidates and district staff. The role blends university collaboration with K-12 practice, emphasizing professional development, mentorship, and program growth on a remote-friendly hybrid schedule.

The position requires a Master's in Education, 5+ years of teaching, and content-area certification; the candidate will work

Qualifications

• Masters in an Education related field.
• Five or more years teaching experience at varying grade levels.
• Appropriate certification in needed content areas e.g. Early Childhood, ELA, SPED, ESL, Math, Science, the Arts, etc.
• Ability to work both online and in person during the school day

Responsibilities

• Lead or facilitate professional development for teachers, staff and district personnel.
• Meet with school principal/director to establish scope of work and SMART goals for the academic year.
• Serve as WP liaison to the PDS school, sharing information about WP workshops and programs.
• Work the equivalent of one day (6 hours) per week at the PDS site (16 days per semester or 32 days per year)
