Job summary

Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH is seeking a Professional Tutor for the Tutoring & Learning Center on a part-time basis. The role provides tutoring and skill-building services to students individually, in small groups, and in academic labs across various subject areas with emphasis on Physics.

The position pays $17.98 per hour, up to 28 hours per week, and includes benefits for part-time staff. You will participate in department training to stay current with teaching methods and subject

Qualifications

• Minimum of an associate’s degree required OR minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent accompanied with at least 60 semester hours in higher education required; bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year of tutoring or teaching experience with a preference in working with a diverse student population required
• Familiarity with Zoom and Microsoft Outlook preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide individual tutoring, small group tutoring, and/or lab tutoring for Sinclair Community College students
• Assist with Sinclair, Student Affairs, and Tutoring & Learning Center initiatives
• Participate in department training and other professional development opportunities to maintain a knowledge of their subject area(s) and current teaching methods

Position Summary

The purpose of a Professional Tutor for the Tutoring and Learning Center is to provide tutoring and skill-building services for students individually, in small-group sessions, and/or in the academic labs in different subject areas. Professional Tutors are also required to participate in department training and other professional development opportunities to maintain a knowledge of their subject area(s) and current teaching methods.

While the Tutoring and Learning Center supports a variety of subjects, this search is specifically for any of the following content areas: Physics; however, it is not limited to these areas.

This position pays $17.98 per hour and has a maximum of 28 hours of work per week.

Requirements
