Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking part-time adjunct Electronics Engineering Technology faculty to teach face-to-face classes at Centerville High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Spring semester. Compensation is $1,046 per credit hour taught. Eligible staff reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky or can work within those states.

SCC limits part-time employment by state compliance. Responsibilities include planning instruction, preparing syllabi, employing effective teaching strategies,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering or related field, or equivalent tested experience.
  • Five years of related field experience and an active journeyman’s card.
  • Experience in teaching preferred.
  • Proficient with modern educational technology.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
  • Prepare and submit syllabi for assigned sections per policies.
  • Use appropriate teaching methods and instructional technology.
  • Adapt instruction to diverse student needs.
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
  • Evaluate and provide timely feedback on student work.
  • Maintain accurate progress records and final grade rosters by deadlines.
  • Ensure confidentiality of student information.
  • Cannot exceed 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach. This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering, electronics engineering technology, a related area; OR must meet the specific requirements associated with Tested Experience
  • Tested Experience Requirements:
    • Minimum of a high school diploma required AND
    • Minimum of five years of experience in a field specifically related to the course to be taught required AND
    • Active journeyman’s card required
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community
  • Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction
