Job summary

Johnson & Wales University is seeking a part-time tutor at the Charlotte Campus to support students with course content and related written work. The role involves guiding students in mathematics and academic success skills to help them complete coursework successfully.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Tutors students in academic success skills (e.g. learning strategies, time management).
• Coordinates tutoring goals with advisers, academic counselors and faculty to meet student needs.
• Attends tutor training sessions and staff meetings where applicable.
• Administers individualized tests to students with accommodations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree
• Experience with tutoring or teaching mathematics, including developmental mathematics, algebra, calculus, quantitative analysis, and statistics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with tutoring or teaching college students
• Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations
• Ability to explain and comprehend mathematical problems, concepts and processes and communicate and explain mathematical knowledge effectively to students with varying levels of preparation

Qualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
