Job summary

GSG Protective Services in Los Angeles, CA is seeking experienced Professional Security Officers who are firearms certified to protect high-risk sites. You will maintain safety, observe activities, and report incidents in a professional manner.

Required: 5 years law enforcement or related military experience, High School Diploma, Security Officer License, Firearms State Permit, PC-832. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits.

Responsibilities

Job Skills / Requirements

GSG Protective Services is seekingexperienced Professional Security Officers to work at a variety of high-risk sites and posts. Security officers will be responsibleformaintaining the safety and security of Visitors and staff on the property assigned.Additional duties and responsibilities will be defined in the site-specific post orders.

Responsibilities

• Be alert and attentive while on duty to ensure personal safety and your ability to observe activities, irrelevant of working environment.


• Collaborate with all GSG Protective Services and client staff, irrelevant of position rank or title.


• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.


• Observe and report various activities on and around the assigned post.


• Practice all safety rules and procedures, at assigned post, as established by GSG Protective Services to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.


• Report designated activities and irregularities by submitting written and/or verbal reports.


• Making customer service a top priority – be pleasant and courteous while greeting all individuals.


• Receive and pass down relevant information from the officer you are relieving or being relieved by.


• Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm manner, carry out policies related to the situation and respond to instructions with urgency as needed.


• Patrol the premises and/or control access points.


• Ability to control hostile situations through de-escalation techniques and appropriate escalation offorceforthe safety of themselves and others.


• Deal with complex and potentially hostile situations that include situations involving the unhoused and/or mentally ill.


• Ability to detain suspects if required/needed.


• Safely handle firearms and/or any other weapons authorized to carry.


• Clock in and out, log in and outforbreak and file reports using computer and smart phone apps.


• Additional essential duties will be defined in the Post Orders of the specific postforwhich the security officer is assigned.

Requirements

• 18+ years of age


• Security Guard Permit as required by state law.


• Firearms Permit as required by state law.


• Chemical Weapons/Pepper Spray Permit as required by state law.


• PC-832


• 5 years Law Enforcement or related Military Experience


• Documents that establish identity


• Documents that establish authorization to work in the U.S

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Listen, understand, summarize, transfer and retain basic instructions and detailed information.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including the ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.


• Ability to maintain control of a firearm and/or other assigned weapons in a hostile situation.


• Ability to de-escalate situations.


• Ability to detain a suspect.
