The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services seeks a Painter I to maintain interior and exterior painting needs at the Wrentham Developmental Center (Wrentham, MA). Surfaces include wood, brick, and stucco; tasks cover sanding, caulking, patching, and refinishing.

The role is full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday–Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and requires safe operation of ladders and scaffolding, with adherence to regulations and DDS policies.

Qualifications

• At least one year of painting experience required.
• Knowledge of prep for wood, metal, plaster, cement surfaces.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Massachusetts Rigger's License may be required.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Paint interior and exterior surfaces with brush or spraying equipment.
• Prepare surfaces by stripping old paint, priming, sanding, washing, taping, patching.
• Stain and varnish interior and exterior surfaces as directed.
• Glaze windows by proper procedures.
• Erect ladders and staging.
• Repair walls, patch holes, caulk.
• Refinish furniture and hang wallpaper.
