Job summary

Teal Energi is seeking a part-time Mechanical Engineer with an active PE license to provide technical support at an operating facility in the Conroe, TX area. The role focuses on hands-on expertise, code compliance guidance, and engineering oversight without a full-time schedule.

You will review equipment layouts, assist with P&IDs, and support equipment evaluations and stamping as needed, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive safe, compliant engineering decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license with stamping capability.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, NFPA standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with static equipment engineering and reviewing drawings, layouts, and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Review equipment layouts for compliance with mechanical codes and NFPA standards.
• Support evaluation and selection of new equipment with design-code reviews.
• Review and assist with basic P&IDs.
• Provide PE engineering review and stamping support as required.

We’re currently seeking a Part-Time Mechanical Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license to provide technical engineering support for an operating industrial facility in the Conroe, TX area.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys providing hands-on technical expertise, code compliance guidance, equipment review, and PE oversight without committing to a traditional full-time schedule.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Review equipment layouts for compliance with applicable mechanical codes and NFPA standards
• Support evaluation and selection of new equipment, including design-code and compliance reviews
• Review and assist with basic P&IDs
• Provide PE engineering review and stamping support as required
• Apply mechanical engineering expertise to support decision-making within an operating facility
• Support facility improvements, equipment modifications, and operational optimization initiatives
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and project teams to provide timely technical recommendations

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to provide engineering review/stamping support
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
• Experience with static equipment engineering
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, equipment layouts, P&IDs, and technical documentation
• Experience in operating facilities and/or brownfield environments preferred
• Knowledge of NFPA requirements and fire protection principles highly desirable
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• CAD experience is a plus, but not required
