Job description

Position Title: Professional Maintenance Specialist

Location: Onsite. Sterling Heights, MI.

Job Requirements

• Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing designated manufacturing equipment and technology in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. The candidate will coordinate safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale initiatives related to their designated equipment and/or technology. Ensure maintenance procedures and processes are well defined, understood, and practiced by skilled trades.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of industrial automation experience with project management experience.
• Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interface across all levels of the plant, from hourly employees to senior leadership.
• Ability to build effective relationships with plant leadership and customers.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Goal-oriented self-starter with team leadership capabilities.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and develop skilled trade employees.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities

• Possess a high level of technical understanding of their specific technology, including operations, component life cycles, and maintenance activities.
• Provide coaching and mentoring regarding OEM techniques for problem solving and corrective actions.
• Create Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) related to time-based maintenance, MTBF, and equipment basic condition maintenance.
• Collaborate with Skilled Trades staff to maintain equipment at basic conditions and guide actions to restore equipment.
• Ensure SMPs support achievement of KPIs like MTBF, MTTR, and OEE.
• Address throughput, run-to-run, and downtime issues in production.
• Coordinate activities according to OEM standards, especially Autonomous and Professional Maintenance activities.
• Enhance overall equipment effectiveness through systematic planning and execution, utilizing CMMS - Total Maintenance System (TMS).
• Lead kaizen projects focused on safety, cost, quality, throughput, and waste reduction.
