A leading company in Sterling Heights is seeking a Maintenance Controller to oversee manufacturing equipment in a dynamic, unionized environment. The role involves ensuring maintenance procedures are followed, coaching skilled trades, and leading projects for continuous improvement. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical skills and experience in maintenance management.
The Maintenance Controller is responsible for managing designated manufacturing equipment and technology in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. This includes coordinating safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale initiatives related to their designated equipment or technology.
Key responsibilities include ensuring well-defined maintenance procedures are understood and followed by skilled trades, possessing a high level of technical understanding of specific technologies, providing coaching and mentoring to team members, creating Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs), working with Skilled Trades staff to maintain equipment at basic conditions, and ensuring KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE are achieved.
The role also involves addressing throughput, run-to-run, and downtime issues, impacting overall equipment effectiveness through systematic planning and execution of maintenance activities using CMMS - Total Maintenance System (TMS). Additionally, the Maintenance Controller actively participates in and leads kaizen projects focused on safety, cost, quality, throughput improvements, and waste reduction.
