Their specialized divisions, including NexGen Land Solutions, NexGen Power Solutions, NexGen Marine Specialists, and NexGen Real Estate Services, are supported by a proprietary technology platform that manages projects seamlessly from field to finish. With over four decades of combined expertise, NexGen Enterprises brings precision, affordability, and industry‑leading professionals together to deliver exceptional outcomes for every client they serve.

The Professional Land Surveyor is responsible for overseeing and certifying all surveying activities at NexGen Land Solutions, leading field and office teams, managing client and vendor relationships with confidence and professionalism, and growing into a leadership role that drives revenue, expands client partnerships, and directly supports the organization’s long‑term mergers and acquisitions expansion strategy.

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Survey projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the accuracy and compliance standards NexGen's clients expect, with the Professional Land Surveyor owning quality control from project kickoff through signed and sealed deliverable.
  • Client and vendor relationships are strong and growing because the Professional Land Surveyor engages confidently, communicates proactively, and treats every external interaction as an opportunity to reinforce NexGen's reputation and generate the next project.
  • The role evolves into a revenue-driving leadership position, with the Professional Land Surveyor building the depth of contribution that frees senior leadership to focus on organizational expansion and strategic growth across new markets.
OBJECTIVES
  • Oversee and manage all phases of land surveying projects including boundary, topographic, construction, and as‑built surveys, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and quality from planning through delivery.
  • Review, sign, and seal survey drawings, plats, legal descriptions, and all related deliverables in accordance with applicable state licensing requirements and professional standards.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor field crews and office staff, building technical capability and professional growth across the team through consistent coaching and hands‑on guidance.
  • Serve as the primary client‑facing technical contact, communicating project status, scope questions, and deliverable timelines with confidence and clarity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with management and clients, ensuring projects are set up for profitable and on‑time delivery from the outset.
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, coordinating field operations logistics and holding external partners to the quality and timeline standards required on every project.
  • Perform boundary analysis, coordinate geometry calculations, and resolve property line discrepancies in accordance with applicable surveying law and professional standards.
  • Lead the adoption of new survey technologies and methods including GPS, LiDAR, and drone mapping, evaluating tools for accuracy, efficiency, and application to NexGen's growing service offerings.
  • Assist in business development through proposal preparation, client meetings, professional networking, and active participation in industry organizations and events.
  • Maintain and continuously improve quality control systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across all project deliverables and conducting internal reviews that identify and resolve errors before delivery.
  • Enforce safety protocols across all field operations, building a team culture where safe working practices are understood, followed, and never treated as optional.
  • Represent NexGen Land Solutions in a professional and growth‑oriented manner, building the external reputation and client trust that supports long‑term revenue growth and geographic expansion.
COMPETENCIES
  • Licensed and technically skilled across the full range of land surveying disciplines, with the ability to oversee, review, and certify work product on boundary, topographic, construction, and as‑built projects.
  • Comfortable and confident in client‑facing interactions, engaging customers and vendors directly, explaining technical concepts in accessible language, and managing relationships with the communication strength that drives repeat business and referrals.
  • Strong team leader who can supervise field crews and office staff, provide hands‑on mentorship, and hold team members accountable to performance and quality standards in a way that builds capability rather than dependence.
  • Revenue‑minded and growth‑oriented, approaching every client interaction, proposal, and project delivery as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship, expand scope, and contribute directly to NexGen's business development goals.
  • Experienced in managing vendor and subcontractor relationships, coordinating field logistics, enforcing quality expectations, and resolving issues directly without escalating every problem to senior leadership.
  • Proficient with GPS, total stations, data collectors, and survey software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or comparable platforms, and eager to lead the team's adoption of emerging survey technologies.
  • Organized project manager capable of running multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines, keeping budgets on track, and communicating proactively when scope or timeline risks emerge.
  • Embodies NexGen's IDEA values and fundamentals, committed to continuous growth, hungry to improve, and treats every challenge as fuel rather than a reason to slow down.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the applicable state is required; candidates with recently issued license numbers reflecting current‑era training and modern survey technology proficiency are strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience combined with an active PLS license will be considered.
  • 3 to 7 years of progressive land surveying experience preferred, with strong emphasis on candidates who demonstrate the ability to manage client relationships, lead teams, and take ownership of projects well beyond purely technical deliverables.

  • Must be able to perform sustained outdoor physical activity including walking, hiking, and operating survey equipment across varied terrain, with the ability to lift and carry field equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel to project sites, client meetings, and professional events is a regular and expected part of this role; occasional overnight travel may be required depending on project location and scope.
