Summary of Responsibilities
- Designs, prepares, and delivers undergraduate and graduatecourses in Data Analytics using engaging, applied instructionalmethods across face-to-face, hybrid, livestream, andonlinemodalities. Integrates data visualization, statistical analysis,AI-enabled analytics tools, and modern business intelligenceplatforms into instruction. Evaluates student learning usingappropriate assessments and provides timely, constructive feedbackwhile fostering an inclusive, student centered learningenvironment.
- Serves as a liaison between the WSB and industry partners toensure curriculum reflects current workforce expectations. Developsemployer-sponsored projects, guest lectures, case competitions,internships, and experiential learning opportunities. Maintainsactive engagement in the analytics profession through consulting,professional organizations, certifications, conferences, or othercontinuing professional development activities. Promotes industrypartnerships that enhance student success and programvisibility.
- Develops measurable learning outcomes, instructional materials,cases, labs, and experiential learning projects that reflectcurrent industry practices. Continuously improves curriculum toalign with evolving technologies and employer needs. Maintainsregular office hours and advises and mentors students in academicprogress, professional development, internships, industrycertifications, and career readiness, supporting student successfrom the classroom to the workforce.
- Participates in departmental, school, and university committeesand initiatives. Contributes to curriculum assessment, continuousimprovement, accreditation activities, program development,recruitment, and student engagement efforts. Collaborates withfaculty to assess learning outcomes and improve instructionaleffectiveness. Performs other related duties as assigned. Designsand administers assessments aligned to course outcomes using clearcriteria/rubrics; provides timely feedback. Holds regular officehours. Advises and mentors students on career paths, skilldevelopment, professional preparation, and job-searchstrategies.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in DataAnalytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, ComputerScience, Statistics, Operations Research, or a closely relatedfield; or a master's degree in a related business disciplinecombined with substantial professional experience in dataanalytics.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professionalexperience in data analytics, business intelligence, data science,analytics consulting, decision support, or a closely relatedfield.
- Demonstrated expertise in contemporary analytics tools andtechnologies commonly used in industry.
- Evidence of maintaining professional currency through industrypractice, consulting, professional certifications, continuingeducation, or leadership in the analytics profession.
- Demonstrated expertise in data analytics with experienceapplying analytical methods to support business decision-making,organizational effectiveness, and emerging technologies.Familiarity with business strategy, artificial intelligence,operations, or supply chain contexts is desirable, along with acommitment to industry engagement and student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in higher education or deliveringprofessional training.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Power BI DataAnalyst Associate, Tableau Certified Professional, AWS DataAnalytics, Google Professional Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer,Databricks, SAS, Snowflake, or similar industry-recognizedcredentials.
- Experience developing employer-sponsored projects, internships,or experiential learning opportunities.
- Strong connections with Utah or regional employers inanalytics, technology, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, orrelated industries.
- Demonstrated leadership in applied analytics projects,consulting, or professional organizations.
- Evidence of thought leadership through conferencepresentations, industry publications, white papers, or invitedprofessional presentations.
- Knowledge of Canvas a plus, but not required.
