Description

The Professional Development Specialist provides advanced nursing professional development expertise, supporting enterprise-wide education, transition-to-practice programs, and workforce development initiatives. This role designs, implements, and evaluates education strategies aligned with organizational priorities, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practice. The Professional Development Specialist serves as an internal consultant and program leader, advancing clinical excellence, professional growth, and organizational readiness while maintaining clinical credibility through direct bedside practice

Essential Functions:
  • Design, implement, and evaluate professional development and transition-to-practice programs using evidence-based education methodologies.
  • Conduct formal and informal needs assessments to identify workforce development priorities and education gaps.
  • Align professional development initiatives with organizational strategy, quality goals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or support organizational change initiatives through targeted education and performance improvement strategies.
  • Provide internal consultation and subject matter expertise related to nursing professional development practice.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness using outcome data, quality indicators, and return-on-investment or return-on-expectation measures.
  • Support coordination and oversight of divisional education activities as assigned.
  • Maintain clinical credibility by completing required bedside clinical hours in area of specialty.
  • Promote compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards related to nursing education and development.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree - Nursing
  • Registered Nurse - Florida
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related nursing or professional development experience required. Experience in nursing professional development, clinical education, or transition programs. Experience in acute care or complex healthcare environments.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing professional development practice, adult learning theory, and instructional design principles.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards impacting nursing education and workforce development.
  • Proficiency in needs assessment, program evaluation, and outcome measurement methodologies.
  • Ability to align professional development initiatives with organizational strategy, quality metrics, and business priorities.
  • Advanced systems-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills in complex healthcare environments.
  • Expertise in change management and the application of evidence-based strategies to influence professional practice.
  • Strong consultation, coaching, and influence skills across interdisciplinary and leadership audiences.
  • Ability to assess cost effectiveness and return on investment for professional development initiatives.
  • High-level written, verbal, and presentation skills to translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to support analysis, reporting, and education delivery .
