Your Opportunity

Professional Development is a key area for College and Career Readiness. The Professional Development Specialist role is a critical role within our organization, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing professional development programs aligned to curriculum offerings for the Career and College Readiness business. The role works directly with Sales and Sales Management, Product Management and other internal departments to develop a world-class professional development portfolio. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for helping others develop and grow professionally.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Design and create high-quality, customized instructional materials, training modules, and resources aligned to product offerings.
  2. Drive sales of professional development offerings against annual revenue goal.
  3. Maintain a breadth of knowledge of all product offerings delivered by the organization.
  4. Assist in the preparation of proposals and bids to relevant customers.
  5. Develop and price custom professional development for large scale implementations.
  6. Ability to accurately forecast sales projections and monitor pipeline.
  7. Lead engaging, interactive training sessions, ensuring content is effectively communicated and understood.
  8. Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and webinars as needed.
  9. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through surveys, assessments, and feedback.
  10. Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in professional development to ensure our programs are relevant, innovative, and best-in-class.
  11. Spearhead the strategic identification, recruitment, and onboarding of external professional development (PD) organizations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
  12. Collaborate with Product Management to align training materials with the product roadmap, ensuring that the professional development content supports product features and functionality.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resource, Business Administration, or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience in training and development, instructional design, or related area.
  3. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Self-motivated to meet deadlines independently.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and leadership.
  8. Knowledge of education (K-12 public/private/charter schools).
  9. Adaptability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  10. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

Certification in instructional design, project management, or adult learning principles is a plus.

What to expect from Pearson

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $95,000 - $110,000.
