Position Overview

The Professional Development & PBL Coordinator / Testing Coordinator is a multidimensional position responsible for leading instructional staff development along with the Chief of Schools and Principal, implementing schoolwide Project‑Based Learning (PBL) initiatives, overseeing standardized testing coordination, and managing PowerSchool data systems and staff‑facing duties. This leader supports teacher growth, drives instructional quality, and ensures the operational execution of academic assessment and student data management. This position may also teach a few classes as needed while we grow.

Essential Position Functions
Professional Development (PD) Coordination
  • Design and lead the school’s annual professional development plan aligned to school goals, accreditation requirements, and teacher needs.
  • Coordinate and deliver virtual PD sessions, onboarding for new teachers, and ongoing instructional coaching in collaboration with academic leadership.
  • Maintain a PD calendar and professional learning library for educators.
  • Monitor implementation of training objectives and gather feedback to inform future sessions.
  • Support teacher growth goals, reflective practices, and collaborative learning communities.
Project‑Based Learning (PBL) Implementation
  • Develop and support the implementation of PBL units across grade levels and content areas.
  • Provide training and instructional support to teachers on PBL design, facilitation, and assessment.
  • Curate and distribute resources, tools, and templates for high‑quality, standards‑aligned PBL.
  • Monitor the impact of PBL across classrooms and lead data‑driven refinements.
  • Collaborate with instructional coaches and leadership to align PBL to school priorities and outcomes.
Testing Coordination
  • Oversee the coordination of all internal and external academic assessments including MAP, SAT/ACT, state‑mandated assessments (if applicable), and internal benchmark testing.
  • Manage all testing schedules, proctor assignments, communications, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure secure testing environments and consistent administration protocols across virtual settings.
  • Provide training and support for teachers and proctors on test platforms and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with families about testing expectations, schedules, and student preparation.
PowerSchool & Data Management
  • Serve as the school’s PowerSchool administrator; manage course setup, student scheduling, grading, attendance, and reporting structures.
  • Train staff on PowerSchool use and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with the Registrar, IT, and Academic Leadership to maintain data integrity.
  • Assist in generating reports for academic performance, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Chief of Schools, Principal and Director of Operations, instructional staff, and student support services teams.
  • Support accreditation processes through documentation of PD, instructional models, and assessment data.
  • Participate in schoolwide initiatives and strategic planning sessions to support instructional excellence.
Other Duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned Education & Certification Requirements.
Master’s Degree Education
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Master’s degree in Education or Curriculum and Instruction Design.
  • Valid Texas K–12 educator certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in education.
Preferred
  • Principal Certification a plus.
  • Instructional Coaching certification preferred.
  • Experience in an online or hybrid K‑12 school environment.
  • TTESS certification a plus.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a remote setting.
  • Experience coordinating professional development or instructional programs.
  • Strong understanding of Project‑Based Learning design and implementation.
  • Experience managing or coordinating standardized testing programs.
  • Tech‑savvy; comfortable using virtual platforms (Google Workspace, Zoom/Google Meet, LMS/SIS systems).
  • Experience with MAP, SAT/ACT coordination, and testing compliance.
  • Knowledge of Cognia or similar accreditation processes.
  • Instructional design and/or curriculum development background.
  • Experience in adult learning theory and teacher coaching.
