Responsibilities

Howmet Engines is a world-class producer of aero engine and industrial gas turbine components, including airfoils, rings, disks, and forgings. We excel in vacuum melted superalloys, machining, performance coatings, and hot isostatic pressing for high-performance parts that enable the next generation of quieter, more fuel-efficient aero engines and cleaner power generation. Howmet Dover Casting is a supplier of complex, investment-cast turbine airfoils and other components for the aircraft engine and industrial gas turbine industries. Howmet Dover Alloy supplies vacuum and air-melted nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys to aerospace, gas turbine, medical, and other high-tech markets.

We are currently looking for a Melter Tech to join our Howmet Alloy plant in Dover, New Jersey. This Afternoon Shift position works Monday - Friday, 2 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.. Training will be on Days (M-F, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) for several months.

Anticipated Pay Range: $24 - $26 per hour. Pay rates are determined based on experience, education, certifications, etc. The position includes an hourly shift premium during off-shift work.

Job Responsibilities

• Charge, operate, maintain, and clean melting equipment following documented procedures.
• Monitor equipment operation and make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform minor and preventative maintenance.
• Install, remove, and monitor preheat torches.
• Follow melting techniques and verify prelim additions.
• Perform data entry for melt logs.
• Assist with multiple furnaces as needed.
• Perform coil changes, including confined space work and operating overhead cranes.
• Handle emergency and remedial procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment and assist in training new team members.

Furnace Change Responsibilities

• Coordinate shift activities during furnace changes.
• Record furnace change details and report issues.
• Complete safety audits and ensure timely completion of furnace changes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Complete Melter’s training and certification.
• Effective communication skills in English.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Satisfactory vision and physical ability to use equipment and work in hot environments.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, perform basic math, and operate a PC.
