Pharmacy Technician Job, Full-Time 1st/2nd Shift Rotating

Pharmacy Technician Roles and Responsibilities:
- Fill patient or Omnicell envelopes with the correct drug from the Pharmacist’s order entry, prior to Pharmacist’s check, and deliver checked envelopes accurately and promptly using supplemental restock or patient room bin as directed by the Pharmacist.
- Fill, check, and deliver Omnicell medications (correcting expiration dates as needed) appropriately off the restock lists utilizing par levels and restock numbers. Complete Restocking Check List.
- Proficient in Omnicell procedures such as normal restock, supplemental restock, room stocking, destock, cycle count, and expired medications.
- Unload (delete) and load medications in Omnicell. Access inventory aging reports and add medications to a unit from the Master List.
- Deliver controlled substances accurately using Omnicell procedures for report tracking. Manage return bins and ensure proper documentation. Check expiration dates of stock epidurals and neonatal morphines on assigned units.
- Assist individuals at the pharmacy window, answer calls, and direct them appropriately.
- Maintain dress code according to policy/procedure.
- Prepackage and label medications in unit dose form from bulk supplies following policy and procedures.
- Fill code boxes for pharmacist checks. Assemble SANE kits, intubation kits, OBS kits, and TB medications as assigned.
- Check inpatient and ED units for transfer of bulk medications daily, utilizing transfer lists.
- Record refrigerator temperatures daily, notify relevant staff of deviations, and assist in quality assurance activities.
- Prepare medications according to pharmacy guidelines, calculating and measuring dosages under pharmacist supervision.
- Ensure IVs are properly labeled and deliver admixtures at scheduled times. Properly dispose of unused admixtures and run refill lists hourly.
- Handle oncology medications safely and dispose of materials properly.
- Perform quarterly medication unit inspections and maintain expiration reports. Clean automated dispensing units during inspections.
- Assist in training staff and maintain an organized workspace.
- Manage inventory control, check expiration dates, and rotate stock in pharmacy and nursing areas.
- Assess IV room and department needs, place tri-weekly orders, and organize received items promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in Massachusetts or eligible for registration.
Preferred:
- Background in science and mathematics.
- Experience with Meditech, IDX, and AllScripts preferred.
- IV mixing experience preferred.
