Job description

Job Title: Production Technician

Gatan, Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer of instrumentation and software used to enhance and extend the operation and performance of electron microscopes. Gatan products, compatible with nearly all electron microscope models and including the EDAX portfolio, cover the entire research process—from specimen preparation to imaging and analysis.

We are seeking a talented Production Technician responsible for assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical systems for our SEM and TEM product lines.

Responsibilities:

1. Assemble small, precision mechanical components in a low-volume production environment.
2. Test and troubleshoot products using precision equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and data acquisition modules.
3. Collaborate with engineering to improve product quality and develop test procedures.
4. Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
5. Perform soldering and rework on assemblies.
6. Communicate effectively across departments regarding issues.
7. Maintain inventory accuracy and safety compliance.
8. Organize and maintain a clean production environment.
9. Train others on test procedures and best practices.
10. Embrace responsibilities and challenges with a positive attitude.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher in Engineering preferred.
• 1-3 years of related technical experience with mechanical aptitude.
• Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.

Compensation:

Hourly employee with a salary range of $40,000 to $65,000. Salary depends on experience and location. No incentive offered.
