Job summary

Caterpillar in Seguin, Texas is seeking a dynamic Production Technician II to join our Power Generation assembly team. You will be at the forefront of innovation, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting diesel engines and generators with opportunities for growth and competitive benefits.

Two shifts available; 2nd shift includes a 10% premium. Training begins on 1st shift through Dec 2026. Relocation and visa sponsorship are not provided. Applicants must meet safety and background requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ months manufacturing experience or industry certification.
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
• Intermediate computer experience and MS Office skills.
• Experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work.
• Ability to follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Align and secure engine components per work instructions.
• Install gaskets, seals, wires, bearings, hoses, covers, and visual components.
• Ensure parts/materials are defect-free before assembly.
• Assist in problem-solving and continuous improvement across departments.
• Verify alignment using schematics and part prints.
• Inspect parts for quality defects and conduct audits.
• Support CPS Continuous Improvement cards resolution and SOP adherence.
• Collaborate with other departments to address assembly challenges and suggest improvements.

As a production technician, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, working hands-on to assemble, test, and troubleshoot our cutting-edge equipment. Additional Information:

• $19.50 hourly starting wage
• 2nd Shift will receive a 10% shift premium.
• Schedule: Monday- Thursday, 4:18pm-2:48am. Overtime as required.
• Training will be on 1st Shift until December 2026.
• Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
• Visa Sponsorship is NOT available for this position.

What you will do:

• Align and secure engine components according to work instructions
• Install gaskets, seals, wires, bearings, hoses, covers, and visual components
• Ensure parts and materials used in assembly are defect-free
• Assist in problem-solving and improvement initiatives across departments
• Verify correct alignment of engine components using schematics and part prints
• Inspect parts and materials for quality defects
• Conduct audits and quality inspections to address known defects
• Perform torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspections on engines
• Submit and support resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards
• Adhere to standard operating procedures and area-specific instructions
• Collaborate with other departments to address assembly-related challenges and suggest improvements
• Provide information to supervisors and managers regarding processes in the assigned area
• Occasionally participate in training and development
• Perform any other assigned duties

What you will have:

• Minimum of 4 months' experience in a manufacturing work environment or industry certification
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
• Intermediate experience with computers, tablets, and with Microsoft Office Applications
• Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
• Ability to adhere to safety procedures

What would make you a top candidate:

• Previous experience reading complex assembly instructions
• Previous experience assembling products
• Previous experience with similar electrical cabinet (repair or assembly)
• Previous experience and/or certification in operating forklifts, tugger, and/or other power equipment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to perform repetitive operations
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
