Job Summary:

The Production Technician I will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling the activities of workers engaged in assembling parts and sub-assemblies into finished units by performing the following duties

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop plans to achieve completion of provided operation schedule and sets run order for areas of responsibility with approval of Manager.
  • Interfaces with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates work hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Create detailed schedules to ensure customers shipment dates and equipment specifications are met.
  • Develops a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space for customer orders.
  • Plans flow of materials through departments assigned over. Works with production control on any work order related issues in regards to material and flow of material to work floor.
  • Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends methods to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in work areas and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Coordinates man power requirements with Manager by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Instructs and trains personnel within their area of responsibility. Promotes cross training among employees to benefit work group as a whole.
  • Maintains time and production levels.
  • Confers with Manager to coordinate individual areas of responsibility and work in relation to products
  • being run through other areas of production.
  • Reports all equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel by submitting maintenance work orders on equipment to be serviced.
  • Trouble shoots electronics down to component level to determine cause and remedy malfunctions with the unit.
  • Trouble shoots electrical and mechanical problems to determine root cause of issue and recommend corrective action.
  • Works in conjunction with engineering and production teams with various tests including, but not limited to, implementation of new production products.
  • Conducts detailed experimental testing.
  • Reads blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, assembly and schematic drawings.
  • Maintains appropriate relationship with employees they are directing and adheres to Southern States' Core values.
  • Adheres to Southern States' safety standards and company rules and guidelines.
  • Represents Southern States to customer and supporting staff in professional and respectful manner at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and/or multiple years of experience exhibiting the competency requirements listed above.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from both internal and external customers.
  • Good work record, including attendance.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of inventory software, manufacturing software, drawings data base as well as other related Data bases used in areas of responsibility.
