Description


The Paper Production Technician I is responsible for performing work duties of three identified skills/jobs as the skill is learned and certified: Utility Technician, Winder Assistant Technician, and Inbound Technician. Additionally, the Paper Production Technician II will train, and develop a competency in a cross-over skill from Paper Production Technician II role. Proficiency of each skill is acquired through a combination of academic training and testing, and on-the-job training/demonstration of skill.


This position works a DuPont Schedule consisting of 12-hour rotating shifts - working nights, days, and weekends. Working 14 days out of a 28-day cycle.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Successfully complete all required training/demonstration hours, pass all tests, safety requirements, and OJT (on-the-job) training and SOPs (standard operating procedures).
  2. Complete and prepare customer orders with the JDEdwards (operation software).
  3. Create and submit work orders (repairs) as needed, ensuring all details are provided for effective review and prioritization.
  4. Maintain housekeeping, support mill goals, ensure safety, identify process improvements, and foster professional relationships with team members.
  5. Assist in threading the machine during paper break events and help remove can wraps during breaks.
  6. Assist in fabric and rope changes on the paper machine.
  7. Train apprentices, execute preventive maintenance, and ensure a well-trained workforce.

SKILL: Utility Technician:

  1. Assist in operating stock preparation equipment, monitor plant systems, and operate production equipment per GMP and SOP.
  2. Use LOTO (Lock out tag out)/line break procedures to ensure zero energy, and unplug equipment as needed.
  3. Load and unload supplies with forklifts, operate skid steer, bale clamp truck, and other heavy equipment, and prepare totes for return.
  4. Operate high-pressure washer, communicate process events, troubleshoot equipment, and report issues.

SKILL: Winder Assist Technician:

  1. Assist in machine setup, troubleshooting, and inspection.
  2. Follow customer trim schedules, operate cutting and slitting equipment, and record data.
  3. Perform equipment maintenance, change blades, and execute LOTO procedures.
  4. Communicate process events and operate cranes and forklifts.

SKILL: Inbound Technician:

  1. Unload bales safely, ensure quality, and communicate with carriers.
  2. Inspect and report on bale quality, operate hydraulic dock locks, and perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1-3 Years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Mobile Equipment and Overhead Crane certification required.
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Proficient in JDEdwards, problem-solving, attention to detail, leadership, teamwork, communication skills, and safety awareness.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay rate is $26.75/hour plus $0.75 night shift differential. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, paid time off, holidays, 401(k), bonuses, and more.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift up to 50 pounds, work in various environments, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
