Job description

TAMKO is seeking a Process Operator for our facility in Columbus, Kansas. The Process Operator will apply necessary resources to production process lines to safely and efficiently produce quality non-woven resonated and non-resonated products. Although the position will primarily support the non-woven production functions, the Process Operator will be trained and periodically assigned to work in the plant quality laboratory, shipping department, assist with maintenance functions, and complete other duties as assigned.

  1. Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, etc.
  2. Report all incidents/accidents, personnel, maintenance, or material issues to your supervisor.
  3. Inspect TQCS throughout the shift to verify good quality control.
  4. Keep supervisor informed of quality problems associated with the finished products.
  5. Operate a forklift.
  6. Cut and sample test doff, conduct quality control testing, enter data into TQCS quality computer system.
  7. Inspect finished goods to ensure quality control.
  8. Provide process improvement ideas and assist in their implementation.
  9. Troubleshoot material transfer system to help minimize downtime.
  10. Operate the re-winder as needed.
  11. Understand proper start-up procedures to increase safety and reduce waste.
  12. Assist North Plant, Shipping, Maintenance, and Quality Lab when needed.
  13. Work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Associates/technical degree preferred.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must regularly position himself/herself to inspect, operate, and repair plant machinery and equipment, which at times will require employee to ascend/descend ladders or stairs.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat; risk of electrical shock, vibration and confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. At times a respirator may be required.
