Job summary

Linde plc in Freeport, IL, is seeking an experienced Production Operator to manage and optimize continuous industrial processes. You will operate and control systems to meet flow, pressure, and purity targets, read P&IDs, monitor KPIs, and support maintenance activities in a safety‑driven environment.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial production, a high school diploma (Process Technology degree or apprenticeship preferred), and willingness to work a twelve‑hour rotating schedule,

Qualifications

• Min 5+ years in an industrial production environment required.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Process Technology degree, equivalent apprenticeship, or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control processes to achieve target flows, pressures and purities.
• Monitor product purity, inventory, pressure and equipment performance; identify abnormalities.
• Track and support production KPIs; use the EAM system to manage maintenance work orders.
• Read and interpret P&IDs and control loop logic; understand process interactions.
• Monitor efficiency metrics (compressor performance, distillation, cooling); operate via HMI/remote controls.
• Follow all procedures, alerts and bulletins; report deviations; complete LMS and on‑the‑job training.

Job description

• You will work a twelve-hour rotating shift schedule (seven days on / seven days off / seven days on-call) reporting to the Production Superintendent
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and permit requirements; support a strong safety culture; report safety incidents and near misses; and ensure proper hazard recognition, HWP use, and LOTO procedures
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, permits, and company policies while maintaining product quality standards and supporting quality programs and audits
• Operate and control processes to achieve required flows, pressures, purities, and performance targets
• Further, monitor product purity, inventory, pressure, and equipment performance to identify abnormalities
• Track and support production KPIs and performance goals. Use the EAM system to manage maintenance work orders and activities
• Support maintenance teams in maintaining plant, buildings, and equipment
• Read and interpret P&IDs and control loop logic, understand process interactions, and apply knowledge of air separation processes and system operations
• Monitor efficiency metrics, including compressor performance, distillation, and cooling systems, and operate and monitor systems using HMI and remote plant controls
• Also, follow all operational procedures, alerts, and technical bulletins, communicate operational deviations to plant leadership promptly, and complete required LMS and on-the-job training within established timelines

What makes you great

• You have more than five years of experience in an industrial production environment, with a high school diploma or equivalent required; a Process Technology degree, equivalent apprenticeship, or related experience is preferred
• Experience in continuous chemical operations is beneficial
• Moreover, strong computer and technical skills, along with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, are required for this role
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and are willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed, with a valid driver's license
• You are able to meet physical job requirements, including lifting up to fifty pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, wearing required PPE, qualifying for a full-face respirator, and working safely in an industrial production environment
