Job summary

The J. M. Smucker Co. is hiring an entry-level Production Technician for our Pet Food Plant. You will help ensure safe, efficient manufacturing of products like Meow Mix, work with a collaborative team, and learn new skills in a supportive environment.

You will engage in data collection, quality tracking, and adherence to GMPs while supporting sanitation and safety. This role offers growth opportunities and a commitment to a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred, especially pet food or consumer goods.
• Good attendance and steady safety/quality performance.
• Able to work in a team and help solve problems.
• Willing to work 12-hour 2-2-3 shift rotation.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Safely operate equipment and follow GMPs.
• Strong reading, comprehension and data recording skills.

We are currently hiring entry-level production technicians in our Pet Food Plant. Whether you are interested in the making of the product or working on one of our packing teams, we have a spot for you.

What We’re Looking For:

• Manufacturing experience (preference for pet food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods)
• A proven track record of good attendance and consistent performance delivering consistent safety and quality
• Capability to work well in a team environment and be willing to help solve problems and implement solutions with diverse employees
• Must be willing to be on shift (12-hour 2-2-3 shift rotation, fixed days or nights)
• Safely operate powered industrial equipment and follow all company Safety Rules & Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
• Able to operate, perform basic physical activities: climbing, standing, bending, twisting, and moving around stairs, ladders, platforms, and various equipment
• Capability to work well in a team environment and be willing to help solve problems and implement solutions
• Must be able to effectively read, comprehend, interpret, record, and apply information from documents
• Mechanical interest and operational skills
• Able to learn new systems, record operational data and communicate results
• Track quality and waste metrics
• Emphasis on sanitation/cleaning
• Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently
• Willingness to flow to the work to meet the needs of the business
• Education High School Diploma or GED required
