Primary Responsibilities Include
- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority
- Works within the scope of procedures and instructions
- Participates in and complies with all training and development activities
- Performs emergency response activities, as required
- Conduct routine operating inspections of the unit, troubleshoot operational problems and respond to area emergencies or to changing operational situations.
- Maintain log of readings, lab results, shift production requirements and equipment issues to record daily activity and provide for adequate shift relief.
- Assist with and perform routine maintenance tasks
- Safely shut down and prepare equipment as per lock/tag/try procedures, confined space permit, or safe/hot work permit for maintenance. Return equipment to service or standby mode after maintenance.
- Perform daily housekeeping activities to maintain a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
- Must become fully qualified in positions in the department, within 3-5 years, and maintain these qualifications going forward. Initial qualification and maintaining full qualification in all positions is a condition of employment.
- Share knowledge and assist other operators
- The incumbent will be required to be a member of the rescue team and must be HAZMAT certified. – Level B&C Classified.
Qualifications
- Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others
- High school diploma or equivalent
- PTEC or other post-secondary technical program preferred
- Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift and overtime (including weekends & holidays) as required
- 18 years of age minimum
- Maintain and possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Must test negative (for cause and/or random testing) on all drug and alcohol screens.
- Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 pounds and climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator.
- Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
- Proficient in basic computer skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills
Work Location: In person (St. Gabriel, La.)
The compensation for this position will typically range from $39.10/hour. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
