Job summary

AdientOne Consulting is seeking a Machine Operator / CNC Cutting Table Operator to set up and operate CNC plasma/laser cutting equipment, producing metal components according to engineering drawings, nesting programs and production specifications.

You will read blueprints, verify material types and perform in-process inspections while maintaining safety and quality standards in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Machine Operator / CNC Cutting Table Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC plasma / laser cutting equipment to produce metal components according to engineering drawings, nesting programs, and production specifications. This role ensures that quality standards, safety requirements, and production goals are consistently met while maintaining an organized and efficient work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC plasma / laser cutting tables to cut metal components according to production requirements and engineering specifications.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, cut lists, nesting layouts, and production schedules.

Load, verify, and run CNC cutting programs while ensuring proper material selection and machine setup.

Verify material type, thickness, dimensions, and quantity prior to processing.

Perform machine setup adjustments including torch height, consumables, gas settings, and cutting parameters.

Monitor cutting operations to ensure dimensional accuracy, edge quality, and efficient material utilization.

Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges to ensure compliance with specifications.

Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to maintain quality standards.

Conduct routine maintenance including cleaning slag, replacing consumables, and performing daily equipment inspections.

Troubleshoot minor machine issues and coordinate maintenance support when necessary.

Maintain accurate production records, material traceability documentation, and machine performance logs.

Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Assist with other fabrication, manufacturing, or production tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment or similar CNC machinery preferred.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production documents.

Basic computer skills and ability to work with CNC machine controls.

Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.

Understanding of safe material handling practices.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.

Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.

Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive tasks.

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, sparks, noise, dust, and moving machinery.

Ability to safely handle and move metal materials and parts.

Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed footwear, and other PPE as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment such as Vicon, Vulcan, Hypertherm or similar systems.

Forklift certification or experience.

Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and material characteristics.

Experience with nesting software and CNC programming interfaces.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
