Job summary

Fuse Integration in San Diego seeks a hands-on assembler to build and rework cable harnesses, circuit card assemblies, and electro-mechanical units for defense and aerospace programs. You will read schematics, work from travelers, and perform basic verification with test equipment in a controlled environment.

Ideal candidates have experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and related documentation, can work independently, and are ready to contribute to process improvements in a small, focused production

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience assembling cable harnesses and/or circuit card assemblies in a defense, aerospace, or other regulated electronics environment.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, harness drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, crimp tools, soldering irons, heat guns, torque tools, and basic electrical test equipment (DMM, continuity testers).
  • Strong attention to detail, quality mindset, and comfort working to written process and inspection criteria.
  • Ability to work independently as a nimble self-starter and as part of a small production team.
  • U.S. Citizenship (required)

Responsibilities

  • Assemble cable harnesses and interconnects from drawings, work instructions, and BOMs; cut, strip, crimp, solder, terminate, lace, heat-shrink, and dress to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and company process.
  • Build and rework complex circuit card assemblies (CCA/PCBA) including through-hole and SMT soldering, component installation, conformal coating touch-up, and board-level rework.
  • Assemble and integrate electro-mechanical units: chassis, LRUs, backshells, connectors, panels, and ruggedized enclosures.
  • Read and follow schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and travelers.
  • Perform continuity, and basic functional verification with multimeters and production test equipment.
  • Document as-built work, nonconformances, and first-article notes.
  • Work with production, and quality resolve build issues and improve process, yield, and work instructions.
  • Maintain ESD, FOD, and tool-control in a mixed prototype-to-production environment.

What you'll do:

Nice to have:

  • 1-2 years of experience
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, and/or J-STD-001 certification (or willingness to certify)
  • Electro-mechanical box-build / LRU integration experience
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ESD control, FOD prevention, and traveler/MES documentation
  • Military or veteran manufacturing / avionics background
