Vangst is helping a client in Lapeer, MI hire a Production Support Associate for a fast‑paced manufacturing team. The role pays $21.50/hr and offers a four‑day work week with a Monday–Thursday shift from 8:00am to 6:00pm. You’ll rotate across stations, handle ingredients, and help ensure quality and safety on the line.

The position emphasizes teamwork, precision, and growth, with on‑the‑job training to obtain a Food Handler’s Card and opportunities to advance within the production group.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience in food production, a kitchen, or a similar hands-on environment (or equivalent training).
  • Steady, get-it-done attitude — comfortable moving fast, solo or as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety practices.
  • Familiar with everyday tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Slack; Jira experience a plus.
  • Strong English communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to travel occasionally between buildings or sites.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card — not required to start, we’ll help you get certified.
  • Must be able to obtain any other state‑required permits, licenses, or certifications for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Prep and accurately log ingredients, moving between stations as production needs shift throughout the day
  • Operate equipment safely and correctly, following current state guidelines for product storage and handling
  • Keep a sharp eye on quality — running ongoing QA/QC checks and visual inspections on products as they’re prepped and produced
  • Work well under pressure alongside a team that has each other’s backs
  • Communicate clearly with teammates and leadership, flagging issues or ideas as they come up
  • Keep your workspace clean, organized, and up to sanitation and safety standards
  • Look for ways to cut down on waste wherever possible
  • Jump in on packaging support when needed, and stay flexible as day‑to‑day priorities shift

  • Frequent bending, lifting, and reaching — occasionally moving items up to 50 lbs, frequently handling items under 25 lbs
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment

  • Occasional loud noise
  • Temperatures that may fluctuate between hot and cold
  • Required use of hairnets, gloves, and/or non‑slip shoes as needed
