Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Springfield is seeking a Production Team Member to operate high-speed converting machines and help deliver quality corrugated packaging. You will perform setup, quality checks, and maintain a clean, organized workspace while meeting safety standards.

This role offers training on our best-in-class processes, a union-friendly environment, and a starting wage of $22.07/hour with potential overtime and benefits including health, 401k and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Experience with high-speed, high-volume work.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate converting machines to produce corrugated packaging and learn safety/quality culture.
• Perform routine machine setup and minor maintenance as needed.
• Conduct quality checks and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.
• Assist with loading/unloading materials and mentoring new team members.

Pay: Starts at $22.07 an hour

Weekly Pay

Shift: 1st Shift: 5am/7 am - 3 pm, M-F, or 2nd Shift: 3 pm - 11 pm/1 am. 8 - 10 hour shifts. (Mostly hiring on 2nd Shift)

Overtime: Every other Saturday. Additional overtime as needed, could be daily and/or weekend overtime.

How you willimpactWestRock

• We will train you to operate our converting machines to produce corrugated packaging. The world boxes!
• You will learn to perform routine maintenance on the machine& adjust the machine settings to achieve the desired dimensions and quality of the corrugated products
• Inspect the corrugated products for defects and take corrective actions as needed
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals are met safely with quality products
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines tomaintaina safe work environment

What you need to succeed:

• Experience withhigh-speed, high-volumework.Manufacturing experience or similar experience is preferred
• Willingness and ability tooperatevarious manufacturing equipment, follow specific direction,operatepowered equipment, and other duties as assigned
• Ability to push, pull, bend, squat, lift, reach and kneel for up to 12 hours a day and push or pull up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis. You must be able to stand for up to 12 hour shifts. Our plant gets very hot in the summer. We take safety seriously. Our substance abuse policy prohibits the use of recreational marijuana. You must pass a drug screen
• Ability to work daily overtime, weekendworkand various shifts depending on your position. We cannot guarantee shift availability
• Ability to read a tape measure and have basic math and computer skills

The pay rate for this position is $22.07 per hour. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, Employees accrue paid vacation/sick time at a rate of 3.34 hours per month. Accrued time becomes eligible for use upon completion of 1,500 hours of work, and 13 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
