Position: 2nd Shift Production Team Leader
Responsible for leading a group of employees in support of the production activities of the organization under demands of production quotas and deadlines. The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead a group of employees, oversee work activities, and engage in various forms of communication and judgment.
- Train employees in proper procedures and job skills.
- Maintain quality standards for all parts produced.
- Perform manual repairs using various hand tools and other devices, and/or relieve employees who are working on the line.
- Input and/or look up data on the computer and or in files or other documents to maintain paperwork and reporting requirements of the job.
- Perform quality-related activities including but not limited to reading gauges, process verification, etc.
- Diagnose minor equipment failures or machine jams.
- Perform inventory and cycle counts as directed by supervision.
- Assign work to employees at the start of each shift, and/or communicate various other information required to ensure smooth production.
- Ensure employees comply with all safety rules and regulations.
- Perform basic housekeeping to keep the area clean and safe.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two plus years of experience in automotive manufacturing.
Competencies
- Ability to lead a group of employees in support of production activities.
- Ability to maintain adherence to established procedures and guidelines.
- Mechanical ability and problem-solving skills sufficient to assist in line changeovers and diagnosing machine malfunctions.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to model company appropriate behaviors and to set proper examples for subordinates.
- Operate electronic and manual micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality Standards
- Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of employees.
- Computer literacy skills including data entry and operation of visual ‘touch screen’ display panels.
- Knowledge of related safety requirements
- Sufficient math skills to perform department-related tasks.
- Flexibility, confidentiality, and ability to work effectively with people.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position leads a group of assembly operators and is responsible for performance management within that group.
Work Environment
While performing duties, the employee regularly works on the plant floor.
Physical Demands
The physical demands include handling, feeling, or operating objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Frequently walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, talking, and hearing are required. Occasionally, lifting/moving up to 50 pounds is necessary. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and depth perception.
