Job Title: Production Team Lead
Classification: Hourly- Non-exempt
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Department: Production

Summary of Job: The Production Lead leads the day-to-day activities on the floor to ensure safety, cleanliness, adequate materials, smooth product flow, and achievement of daily targets. Ensures 5S standards are met and drives safety, quality, continuous improvement, associate development, team engagement, and operational results. Responsible for training team members, resource planning, and monitoring progress towards goals. Implements and enforces safety and quality policies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Resource for team members; escalates issues to maximize productivity.
  2. Coaches operators to promote safety, productivity, and engagement.
  3. Assists in driving safety initiatives and instills a safety-first mindset.
  4. Trains, coaches, and holds employees accountable for standards like 5S and standardized work.
  5. Provides regular feedback and coaching, including daily tier review, kaizen activities, and Gemba walks.
  6. Acts as a problem solver using Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies.
  7. Performs production duties and covers for absenteeism/vacations as needed.
  8. Drives 5S and continuous improvement activities.
  9. Maintains process parameters, troubleshoots equipment, and makes minor adjustments.
  10. Ensures effective shift handoffs and manages resources to meet schedules.
  11. Uses SAP to confirm production orders and resolve inventory errors.
  12. Ensures metric boards are current and escalates disruptors.
  13. Coordinates with material handlers on raw materials and finished goods.
  14. Drives TPM efforts with operators and maintenance.
  15. Escalates issues promptly with relevant information.
  16. Schedules time efficiently and adheres to standardized work.
  17. Assigns team members based on production needs and maintains a sense of urgency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exposure to lean tools like 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Standardized Work, KPIs, Visual Management.
  • Ability to prioritize, drive accountability, and problem-solve.
  • Strong math, computer, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Attention to detail and good color vision.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to map basic production processes and risks.

Environment:

  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Indoor work environment.
  • Heat may exceed 90°F.

Compensation:
