Base pay range

$163,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr

Meta is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Release to Production (RTP) team working on liquid cooling and power system initiatives to support large scale AI Training and Inference. Our servers and data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure operates efficiently to deliver our innovative services. The RTP team is responsible for the end-to-end Hardware Lifecycle of all Meta servers including prototyping of experimental HW, pre-production hands-on system and hardware debugging and stress testing, enabling production-ready system monitoring, automated provisioning and automated remediation of issues. RTP team also helps in exploring, developing and productizing high-performance software and hardware technologies for AI at datacenter scale.RTP Engineers work closely with HW/SW co-design teams, hardware designers, networking teams, system manufacturers, component vendors, capacity engineering, production engineering, production services, and data center operations teams to enable new systems that will be deployed in our production data centers.Ramping to production and solving the datacenter scaling and deployment challenges requires us to take a systems based approach to AI system bring up and validation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with at least a couple of hardware/software (power, thermal/liquid cooling, firmware) lifecycle phases: design/bring up, server integration, system validation, supporting customer deployment, production issue triage.

Production Systems Engineer, Cooling & Power Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute end-to-end validation for thermal, liquid cooling, and power system technologies to support Meta’s AI hardware infrastructure.
• Collaborate with hardware design, thermal, and power engineering teams to define test strategies at a system level.
• Drive power and cooling system integration with datacenter tooling.
• Contribute to hacks to enable AI platform integration with next generation liquid cooling and power systems.
• Contribute to new feature development and validation across hardware/software stacks.
• Proactively create experiments and tooling to detect and diagnose hardware/firmware/software health issues.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and root cause system failures while working with internal and external partners.
• Leverage production experience to drive external and internal teams to continuously improve product quality.
• Communicate complex technical findings to a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of experience in hands-on SW/FW/HW engineering to build systems/products for data center environments, or similar.
• Work experience in one or more domains such as: server hardware (system design, bring-up, characterization, validation), board level debug, firmware validation, system validation.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging in production environments.
• Experience in developing test specifications, procedures, and debug guides for test solutions.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in liquid cooling or power system architecture/design/validation.
• Experience in thermodynamics and/or fluid mechanics.
• Knowledge of common bus protocols such as I2C, SPI, USB, and/or PCIe.
• Experience with Linux systems and server systems management.
• Experience authoring test plans for server systems for functional, stress and performance testing.
• 2+ years experience scripting automation in Python.
